Success Stories

“I wanted to let you know that our folks have said nothing but great things about the Incredible Race! There have been comments like "this was the most fun we've ever had at a meeting" , "this team building event really brought the group together which is exactly what we needed" , "I don't think I've ever laughed so much at a work event". They truly had a great time and learned a lot about each other and focused their strategies as true champions and team mates to get to the finish line. I think that was probably evident from the pictures. Thanks again and D. and I have already recommended you to many others in our organization.”

SCAVENGER HUNTS
Other Programs:

Selection of Scavenger Hunts, Treasure Hunts and Incredible Races

The Ant & the Grasshopper hunts are all original creations you won't find anywhere else. We write and develop all of our own innovative programs in-house.
Whether you're looking for soft skills training, bonding or just plain fun, we have the hunt to meet your needs. The Ant and the Grasshopper does NOT sell hunt lists, manuals, boxed sets or hunt ideas. We travel to the city of your function, write an original hunt based on the area where the hunt is to take place and run the hunt for your group. Our prices are based on the location, the size of your group and the date and time of the hunt. We offer a variety of hunts ranging from the highly challenging to the highly hysterical – plus everything in between! We have run hunts from Canada to Puerto Rico, from Boston to San Francisco. For a few tips on how to select the hunt that's best for your group please scroll to the bottom of the page.

A SELECTION OF OUR UNIQUE HUNTS
Please contact us to make sure you get the hunt that best fits your group.

TOP SELLER! THE INCREDIBLE RACE©
This hunt has all the excitement of TV’s “Amazing Race” only without the international travel, the variety of cultures, the amazing scenery of distant lands and… Okay, okay. Who are we kidding? Our Incredible Race© isn’t as thrilling as jetting around the planet for a $1 Million prize but it is challenging, exciting and a whole lot of fun. And of course, because we absolutely insist upon innovation and refuse to do anything like anyone else does it, we have given our Incredible Race a whole lot of unique twists!

TOP SELLER! SPY HUNT©
Another one of our highly successful, unique and very innovative events. Our competitors are trying to copy it but don't be fooled - this is the ORIGINAL Spy Hunt! It takes hunts to a whole new level. It's a hunt but it's also a game of espionage. Just like the world of espionage, Spy Hunt is a game within a game wrapped in an enigma. Who are the agents on your side and who are the enemy moles? Who can you trust and who is trying to sabotage you at every turn? Spy Hunt is entertaining AND instructional on so many different levels. This is a great team building event encouraging strategy, negotiation and problem solving. Throw in navigation, organizational skills and resourcefulness exercises and you have the makings of a powerful and memorable corporate team building event.

ON A BUDGET? THE INCREDIBLE PHOTO RACE©:
Designed for groups with a limited budget the Photo Race includes a customized list, a digital camera and an experienced Emcee/facilitator/writer to kick things off, score the teams and wrap things up at the end. We do NOT sell generic photo lists. Our lead facilitators write a brand new, exciting Photo Race based on your group, the area and your schedule. We travel anywhere in North America. If it is within your budget we can provide a slide show after the race for just a few dollars more. Loads of laughs!

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM HUNT©
You select the museum, art gallery, aquarium, or zoo (anywhere in North America) and we'll write and run a hysterical hunt for you that includes zany characters and fun challenges. This hunt is great for all ages. History will come to life!

THE INCREDIBLE GREEN RACE©
Looking for team building program with a "Green Theme"? We have adapted our best selling outdoor program, The Incredible Race, and included a number of Green Challenges such as "The Green Brain", "MacGyver Green" and "Re-News the Old News".

RED SOX NATION EXPLORATION©
Columbus explored the New World. Lewis & Clark explored America. And now YOU will explore the Red Sox Nation. This fun team building event is available only in Boston. Your group will search for baseball and Red Sox trivia, history, mythology and landmarks in Beantown. Tell us how long you want your hunt to last and we'll customize it accordingly. "Go Sox!"

DR GREEN'S ENVIRONMENTAL HUNT©
Another "Green Theme". This is both a hunt and a game of environmental espionage. Someone is intentionally setting out to sabotage the environment and Dr. Green needs your help to stop them. Your job is to find Agent Orange, Miss Bea Have, the Professor of American Litter, and the rest of the suspects, interrogate them and catch the environmental saboteur. This exciting hunt will test your teams’ skills at planning and execution, while at the same time challenging them to reduce, reuse and recycle.

SCALAWAGS AND HOOLIGANS©
WARNING! If you are looking for an event that builds trust do NOT read this description! This is a scavenger hunt like no other. Your group is divided into teams (gangs) of scalawags and sent on a scavenger hunt looking for all kinds of loot and hooligans. But unlike other scavenger hunts, this time you don't have to play fair. As a matter fact, you are encouraged to cheat! Oh what liberating fun it is to break all the rules! This team building event is one of the wildest, most competitive, most fun events for building team spirit and morale! But as far as ethics? Forget it! Is your group comprised of Boston Robs and Ambers? Then this is the hunt for you!

THE HUNT OF DREAMS©
Build it and they will come! Yet another unique, one-of-a-kind hunt. Last year we created an original hunt for the upper management of a manufacturing company. They had such a good time they referred us to the sales department of one of their sister companies. They, in turn, had a such a good time at the Orlando Resort where they were staying that the resort began referring us to other companies holding events at their facility. As a result The Hunt of Dreams has taken off. Does your company manufacture something? Let us know and we will design a hunt specific to your type of business! This hunt is one of the most entertaining and competitive hunts ever and no one else does anything like it!

MYSTERY HUNT©
I have been writing murder mysteries since the seventies and corporate scavenger hunts since the early nineties. But it took me until 1998 to combine the two when I wrote a customized Mystery Hunt for the Jim Henson Corporation. Why didn't I think of it before!? It's a match made in heaven. Your group hunts for clues to catch a killer! They'll have so much fun this hunt will knock 'em dead!

ILLINOIS JONES ADVENTURE HUNT©
This hunt uses the history, culture, flora, fauna, architecture and atmosphere of the area in which the hunt is taking place. When at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, Illinois Jones sent the hunters on a search for the Lost Tribes. When at historic Fort Warren in Boston , Illinois Jones sent hunters looking for Civil War relics. This hunt is both exciting AND educational. When at Valley Forge Illinois Jones sent hunters on an expedition through the Revolutionary War. Illinois Jones makes history fun! Guaranteed.

PLAYING THE ODDS©
Once again, The Ant & the Grasshopper has come up with a hunt like no other. We had originally created this one for one of our Las Vegas clients, and now we are pleased to offer it everywhere. Playing the Odds© has many of the same ingredients as our other hunts (strategy, creative thinking, team work and fun) but it also has the added excitement of Chance! Want to add a little risk to your team event? Then shuffle up and hunt!

STRIP SEARCH©
Is your next conference, meeting or incentive program in Las Vegas? We've been running this very popular hunt for three years now at several resort/casinos on The Strip including The Venetian, NYNY, The Wynn, Monte Carlo and The Sands Conference Center with much success. Corporate groups have really gone wild over it. Don't believe me? Then read what a group of conservative accountants had to say: "Thank you... Everyone had a great time. And yes, I have to agree, some of the pictures were priceless! When a team building event was first mentioned, of course, we were met with apprehension. However, after participating in the hunt on the Las Vegas strip, the group of conservative accountants would definitely do it again. They were able to show their wild side and had a great time. Thanks again..." Give your group a chance to "show their wild side" too. And after the event you get to keep the photos. Remember... What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

BATTLE OF THE SALES TEAMS
There are few occupations more competitive than sales so it makes perfect sense that sales-people would enjoy a competitive game such as a hunt. And this particular hunt is highly competitive, energetic and exciting as it puts the participants' presentation, organization, negotiation and other sales skills to the test. On your mark. Get set. SELL!

GHOST HUNT
We have written ghost hunts for mansions, castles, on islands, and one for the town of Salem, Massachusetts (home to the ghosts of a lot of witches)! A ghost hunt can work almost anywhere at any time but it really is more fun at night with flashlights in hand and goose bumps on the back of the neck.

LEADERSHIP HUNT
When a large pharmaceutical company wanted something fun to add to their Leadership Training Program, we created the Leadership Hunt that challenged participants to use their Leadership and Management skills. Since then Dannon, Johnson & Johnson and CVS Pharmacy have all purchased the Leadership Hunt. How did they go? ALL THREE companies have purchased the Leadership Hunt again and again!! You may lecture all about what a leader could or should do… but how will they practice it in the field? This hunt gives them the opportunity to show what kind of leadership skills they have developed.

CUSTOMIZED HUNTS
We have created hunts based on such themes as Pirates, Gold Prospectors, Star Trek, the Civil War, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, Last of the Mohegans, and a Fantasy Role Playing hunt. We have created hunts for sales teams, leadership training hunts and orientation hunts. We have created indoor hunts at such locations as hotels, resorts, conference centers, museums and even inside several aquariums. We have created outdoor hunts that take place on city streets, parks, farms, gardens and even a zoo or two. We even created an orientation hunt for a computer firm that took place on several different floors inside their new high-rise office building. We can integrate company messages, product information or specific skill challenges into your hunt. Tell us your goals, your theme and the location of your hunt and we will create a customized hunt just for you.

HOW TO SELECT THE HUNT THAT IS BEST FOR YOUR GROUP

Not all hunts are alike. There are competitive hunts and non-competitive hunts. There are indoor hunts and outdoor hunts. There are hunts on foot and hunts using limos. There are hunts that focus on a specific subject or training such as leadership, sales, trust, orientation, negotiation and more.

So how do you select the hunt that's best for you?

THE DO'S

Identify your goal. What is it you hope to accomplish? Are you looking for an icebreaker where everyone will get to know one another? Are you looking for training? Are you trying to get your group to work better as a team? Or are you looking for a hunt that is just plain fun?

Identify your group's physical capabilities. How physically fit is your group? Can they walk long distances? Can they perform certain athletic tasks? Is there anyone in the group with a physical disability that would be excluded from participating if the hunt was too physically demanding?

Identify your groups' mental prowess. Nothing kills a hunt faster than one that is either too difficult or too easy. Are they good at solving puzzles, riddles and mental challenges? Are they better at logic problems or creative exercises?

Determine your time limitation. Some hunts require more time.

Get a head count Determine as close as you can how many participants there will be before you select your hunt? Some hunts are designed for smaller groups.

Get professional help Hire an experienced hunt facilitator to assist you in selecting the correct hunt for your group and in running it for you.

THE DON'TS

•  Don't buy boxed sets or hunt lists. They may save you some money but there's no guarantee they will work for you. As you can tell by the questions above, there are a lot of factors that contribute to making a hunt successful and enjoyable for your group. It's pure chance that a generic list is going to fit your group.

•  Don't try to run a hunt yourself. There are a lot of things that can go wrong. Unless you've created and facilitated a number of them you won't see the pitfall until it's too late. E.G. There are hunts that require teams to decipher a written clue that directs them to the specific location of the next clue. Once they find the clue they read it, replace it in its hiding spot, and then move to the next location. Did you spot the problem? In fact, there are several problems with this type of hunt. Here are two of them… 1) A competitive team, regardless of the rules, is not going to replace the clue. So when the next teams come along, they will be unable to continue. Don't think teams would do that? I've witnessed it! 2) When a hunt is structured in this linear fashion of following one clue to the next, there will inevitably be teams that will be stumped by one clue or another and consequently will be out of the hunt. It's not much fun for them to sit out the next three hours.

Whether you're looking for training, bonding or just plain fun,
we have the hunt to meet your needs.
